Cutting Ties with Your Past When the Enemy Won’t Let You Forget

Cutting ties with your past is often easier said than done. Yet the truth is that your life before Christ was actually not life at all. Now, this doesn’t mean your past is useless. God will often use our pasts in some way for His glory. But the Bible tells us that we have become alive in Christ and our old selves were crucified with Him. So what happens when the enemy tries to remind us of our past? What do we do when he’s trying to use our past to keep us from growing and moving forward in Christ?

4 Ways We Can Take Back This Country for God

As I look around at this country of ours, one thing is clear. Christians have become discouraged. On almost a daily basis, I hear someone say or read an article that declares just how far this nation has come from the truth of God. And news channels don’t help. If anything, their job is to make us even more afraid. After all, fear motivates and sells better than anything else. And you can expect that if something happens that would cause fear, it will be shared on the news. So where do we go from here? Do we simply throw in the towel and give up on our nation? Or do we fight and take back this country for God? Is it even possible?

10 Lies of the Enemy That Will Stunt Your Spiritual Growth | alyssajhoward.com

10 Lies of the Enemy That Will Stunt Your Spiritual Growth

Jesus referred to the enemy as the “Father of Lies.” Lying is what he does best. In fact, it literally defines who he is. But the truth is that the enemy was defeated at the cross. The Bible even describes his humiliating defeat in Colossians 2:13-15. The victory now belongs to Jesus and we get to share in that victory as children of God. Knowing this truth, the enemy does what he does best… lie. And even though he can’t change what Jesus did on the cross, he can certainly lie to us in an attempt to keep us from fulfilling our God-given destinies and to stunt our growth as Believers. It is when we recognize the lies of the enemy that we can best combat them with the truth.

Lessons from War: How to Stand Firm in Faith and Victory

The victory is won. Sin and death have been defeated. Jesus has defeated the enemy. The New Testament speaks often of our victory in Christ. We are told stand firm in faith and victory because Jesus has already won the war! But what does all of this really mean for us as Believers? If the war is already won, why does Paul instruct us to wear spiritual armor in Ephesians 6? And why is it that life still feels like a constant battle sometimes?

How to Live Your Life as an Overcomer

Defeated. Overwhelmed. Disenheartened. We’ve all been there. Life has a way of throwing us curve balls when we least expect them. Jesus told us that in this life we would have troubles. But what does life really look like as an overcomer?

Dare to Pray Big: The Power of Prayer in the Unseen Realm

I’ve been wrestling about writing this post for some time now. It’s not something I would normally write (or share) on the blog. But with all of the fear people are experiencing these days with the North Korea crisis and many other issues, the Lord really pressed upon my heart to share a dream I recently had. As the Body of Christ, we don’t have to sit idly by and just hope that God will intervene on our behalf. We have been given authority as the church of Jesus Christ to make a difference and to CHANGE the world around us.

Unmistakably His: A Story of Confidence and Grace

Today, I am honored to feature guest writer Kate Schwab!   A few weekends ago I attended a faith-based writers conference. I had never been to one, and I have to say – it was awesome! The huge throng of people who showed up, (mostly women) the excitement in the air, the publishers that attended; looking for new talent and fresh voices, and best of all the Holy Spirit moving with us throughout the day. It was incredible.

3 Reasons Why Your Identity Matters in Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual warfare is something that we all face, even when we don’t realize it. On a daily basis, we fight the lies of the enemy. When he tells you that you’re not worth it, makes you wonder if God will ever accomplish what He has for your life, or causes you to question how you could possibly be worthy of love with all of the mistakes you’ve made… We all must know how to handle thoughts like these because they will come at some point.
